City of Bloomington Volunteer Network

During the summer, when IU student numbers drop, many Bloomington organizations struggle to meet the demand for services. These organizations include those involved in social services, the arts, animal care, the environment, health and housing. Volunteer duties have a wide range, from administrative to technological, to person-to-person interaction, to special events. TO learn where volunteers are needed go to www.bloomington.in.gov/volunteer or subscribe to "VolunteerBloomington" a weekly e-blast that details five current community needs that volunteers can meet.

Volunteer Fair - July 31, from 9am to noon at the Farmer's Market (8th and Morton Streets0

Hoosier to Hoosier Community Sale - Hoosier to Hoosier is a reuse program that aims to (1) reduce waste and minimize landfill use, (2) provide useful goods to people who need them, and (3) create a community consciousness about minimizing waste. The program allows students to donate reusable items, and also help out their neighbors in need at the same time.

The sale of items will take place August 21.
